According to the statistics of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), the Chinese foreign exchange market (excluding foreign currency pairs, the same below) recorded total transactions of RMB 29.42 trillion (equivalent to USD 4.35 trillion) in September 2026.

In terms of markets, the transaction volume of client market was RMB 5.36 trillion (equivalent to USD 0.79 trillion), and the transaction volume of interbank market was RMB 24.06 trillion (equivalent to USD 3.56 trillion). In terms of products, the transaction volume of the spot market was RMB 9.84 trillion (equivalent to USD 1.46 trillion), and that of the derivatives market was RMB 19.58 trillion (equivalent to USD 2.89 trillion).

From January to September 2026, a total of RMB 236.88 trillion (equivalent to USD 34.56 trillion) was traded in the Chinese foreign exchange market.
